Happy New 2008

11 January 2008 OMT Coordinator. The new year was kicked off with a dialogue between the new OMT coordinator, Mr Geoff Manthey aka Regional Programme Advisor, Management and UN Coordination Regional Support team at UNAIDS; and the ESCAP Librarian and KM Officer (Evelyn Domingo-Barker and Manuel Rincon).

A brief summary was given to apprise the new coordinator with the progress of UN Library, Bangkok since its beginnings in September 2007. Among the highlights were: preparation of a UN LIBRARY, BANGKOK blog (you are reading it!); the special section on UN flagship publications at the library; use of trainees to assist in the collection integration.

Other matters touched upon was the need for the “information workers” of the various UN agencies in Bangkok to meet on a face to face basis, to get to know each other and the work being done, and the areas in which possible collaboration could take place. These “workers” could include staff in libraries, publications, public information, knowledge management and websites. A common thread is in information sharing.
